The Lost Jigsaw was founded in 2023 by questioning the missing gaps of modern art among artists in Lao contemporary art, leading to its formation and comprised of an eclectic ensemble of fine arts students with a diverse range of interests, ages, and characteristics, yet who all possess the same passion and vision at heart, which entails preserving and elevating ‘contemporary art’ to be acknowledged and recognized on a larger scale as well as to create new pieces of work, not only in artistic arenas but also or the community at large.
“ Lost Jigsaw” derives its meaning from comparison to a forgotten piece of a jigsaw puzzle, representing a critical aspect of art in contemporary society that has been neglect-ed and left for dead by a new generation of artists for quite some time. Thus, this group’s endeavor aims to act as a small piece of the puzzle of art in our society, allowing us to obtain a better understanding of the process, maintain the values, and shine a spotlight on the art community to foster future progress.
Lost Jigsaw simply produces artwork, despite the fact that our understanding of art and the method of our artwork are tailored to each individual’s ability, such as under-standing art being similar to the members’ shared interests and a desire to grow in the way of producing artwork and teamwork. As a result, this aspect enables us to walk to-gether professionally with purpose and harmony.
The creative process of The Lost Jigsaw does not involve a high degree of sophistication or complexity. We merely seek to narrate the world around us and its conditions in a distinct way in which we experience it; impressively, interestingly, wonderingly, questioningly, and hopefully, all with a conviction to retell age-old stories in an intriguing manner. Thus, weutilize a multitude of mediums to create vi-sual expressions relating to key components of the aforementioned stories in our artwork, making it possible for artists to disclose and convey their intent to viewers whilst also providing silent commentary on daily occurin everyday societ the art community to foster future progress.
